Logo Design

Along with a website redesign, The University of Pittsburgh Press wanted a new logo to neatly represent their aspirations as a university press with an inspiring history that is both local and international, traditional yet forward-looking.

I developed this design to call to mind both the Cathedral of Learning and a diverse shelf of books, much like the variety of series of the Press. Director Peter Kracht says, “It’s an elegant symbol for the Press, clearly communicating the university and publishing in a memorable striking colophon that works well in a wide variety of contexts, print and digital.”

Thanks to Landesberg Design, the logo has been incorporated into a new website that more accurately conveys how the University of Pittsburgh Press is in competition with the biggest and most reputable university presses of today.
